HEART Healing

Maria Blon has found creative ways to fundraise for HEART in Haiti, using resources she has readily available at her home. She is sharing these ideas in the hope that you will feel inspired to help us fundraise in ways that make you feel super happy. Let’s check out what Maria and friends have been up to.

Since Maria loves gardening and has an abundance of flowers, she approached local restaurants to see if they would like to have flowers to decorate their tables. Something Sweet in Middletown NY has been a steady customer since the summer of 2017. Arrangements are created with local flowers, plants and grasses which are harvested locally and represent the seasons. Customers love seeing the new displays each month, and Maria has a lot of fun being creative with her designs. Rooted live plants, dried flowers, evergreens and even forest terrariums are a few examples of table centerpieces. Many friends help by donating plants and time to make the 17 arrangements each month.

Maria also started a flower delivery service in her local area, bringing people a fresh bouquet in a recycled jar every two weeks and finishing the season with a beautiful evergreen wreath.

Gardening for people who need help designing, installing or caring for a garden is another fundraiser Maria has enjoyed. She has volunteer, Sarah Harrington, helping her with weeding and planting this year. What a wonderful treat to raise money for HEART in Haiti, while Sarah is learning skills to help her develop a career in the landscaping and gardening field.

Energy healing is a service Maria offers through “Looks like a Miracle”. Her clients receive healing and all the money is donated to HEART.

Requests have been coming in for Meditation classes, which Maria is excited to start and use once again for fundraising.

Maria feels empowered using her passions and talents to fundraise for HEART in creative ways and happy that these funds are used to support:

  • Innovative sustainability projects
  • Medical fund
  • Teacher training
  • Tuition for students

We at HEART are so grateful for all of our volunteers, who give so willingly of their time and talent. Maria has shared her personal story…hopefully, it will inspire readers to use their specific gifts to create their own HEART stories too.
