Our mission

To educate the whole child, empowering them to reach their full potential.

At the HEART school, education goes far beyond academics. Our students learn respect, responsibility and critical thinking. They learn self-sustainability, giving, sharing and service. Most importantly, they care for their school and community.

We are an all-volunteer run organization dedicated to educating and empowering each student.

Inside the HEART in Haiti School

Founded in an earthquake-damaged family home with 42 students and five teachers, the school now stands on its own two-acre campus, with classrooms built from retired shipping containers.

In this 2026 video, a student walks you through their classrooms, library, infirmary and school yard.

What makes HEART different

Education to our students is much more than academics

Holistic education

Beyond academics, our students learn respect, critical thinking, responsibility, and the importance of community service.

Giving back

Every Friday, our students do service work, from cleaning up the school property to helping elderly neighbors with chores.

Sustainability

Taught from the ground up, starting with our buildings, which are made out of shipping containers.

Community hub

Employment opportunities, health and dental clinics, and community workshops for our neighbors.

HEART in Haiti Class of 2024 graduates with staff
A historic milestone

Meet our first graduates, the Class of 2024

These remarkable students have become inspiring examples of resilience, determination, and the power of education.

This past school year we added a solar pump, began expanding the school to include 12th grade, and created two new classrooms, one of them a smart classroom for computer science and technology.
