Thank you so much, Friends at Community Church of New York Universalist Unitarian, for your recent donation of $7000! Your generous support provided a year’s education to 14 students of all grade levels. We are grateful that, like us, you see the potential of Haiti’s people, who deserve the chance to improve their lives and their country through education.
Our school is proud to have hardworking students like Esther Vernet (rising 10th grader), who contributes to the school community with her good character and kindness towards others. Esther likes French and Spanish, and she continues to improve her English. In a recent letter, she wrote, “. . . we have insecurity, many gangsters, they disturb life . . . I hope God could set us free against of them.” Students like her are determined to improve life in Haiti for the better, and we are committed to supporting them! We also have students like Samuel Polumene (rising 1st grader), a well-behaved little boy who is talented at drawing and loves art class and history. Here is a sample of his beautiful work. Lastly, we have students like Fedjee Dumene (rising 5th grader), who contributes to the school community with her willingness to help the teacher and her talent at playing the trumpet. Your gift helps us to encourage our student’s passions and talents so they can recognize their own special gifts and better serve their country.
The people of Haiti continue to weather tough challenges, and we are committed to working with our community to create a happier, sustainable future for everyone connected with the HEART School. With the help of generous people like you, we are proud to report that we were able to complete the following achievements during the past school year: we added a solar pump to increase the output of our sustainable energy system, we are expanding the school to include 12th grade, and we created two new classrooms, one of which will be a smart classroom for computer science and technology instruction for students and staff. We are working with our students and faculty to build a happier future for Haiti.
Thank you again for working with us! We couldn’t do it without you!
